ADULT & CHILD FAMILY PORTRAIT (3 - 100 YEARS)

 

Workshop Theme: Contemporary Portraiture

 

Workshop Description: Create alongside your favourite young people in this fun family portrait workshop for adults and children. A process art experience that is packed with art-making skills, creative explorations, and plenty of memorable moments. Participants can expect to practice skills in styling, painting, drawing, and collage, including:

  • How to style a photo for artwork

  • How to paint a textured background

  • How to layer mediums and processes

  • How to enrich an artwork with collage materials

No prior experience is necessary

 

Price: $50 Per participant - Please book one place for each attending person (kids under 3 create for free)

 

Participants Take Home: One family portrait collage per participant

 

Dress: Please dress to be photographed. Costumes and props are available for use or bring your own to use.

DRAWING & SHADING: MASTER CLASS

 

Workshop Theme: Chocolate

 

Workshop Description: Drawing and Shading Master Class focuses on creating realism through thoughtful graphite pencil shading and blending. This skills development workshop is designed specifically for young artists looking to advance their skills in the art of drawing realistically and is packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists. During this workshop participants will choose from a selection of black and white chocolate reference images to recreate as a detailed tonal drawing using graphite pencil techniques.

 

Participants can expect to learn:

  • How to create an interesting composition 

  • How to gently contour line draw a subject’s structure for shading preparation

  • How to shade a value scale of 6

  • How to blend graphite pencils

  • How to shade and texture with graphite pencils

  • How to use drawing tools and techniques such as blending stumps, erasers and hatching

  • How to identify the density differences of a variety of graphite pencils

No prior experience is necessary

Workshop Theme: Soft & Fluffy Animals

 

Workshop Description: Acrylic Painting - Soft & Fluffy workshop is an adorably cute and fun-filled workshop for students wishing to learn fundamental painting techniques and/or improve their painting skill set. Working with a range of acrylic painting materials students will choose from a selection of cuddly animals to create a portrait painting that focuses on replicating soft and fluffy textures. 

 

This skills-based workshop is designed to introduce students to a range of basic compositional and practical painting techniques, including:

  • How to gently contour draw for painting

  • How to select and use a range of paint brushes

  • How to understand and apply basic colour theory

  • How to mix tones and tints

  • How to manipulate acrylic paint, materials and tools

  • How to enrich a painting with layers and detailing

  • How to paint shape, shadow and light

  • How to consider composition 

  • How to focus on blending to create textural softness

No prior experience is necessary.

Workshop Theme: Crafty Bunnies

 

Workshop Description: Crafty Bunnies is a fast-paced 2 hour art and craft workshop inspired by everybody’s favourite holiday bunny. Participants can expect to learn skills in painting, sculpture, textiles and crafts through a series of engaging projects, including a process art portrait painting, foam clay sculpture and rainbow dyed soft toy. Activities and games will be dispersed between projects to allow for little attention spans.

 

No prior experience is necessary. 

 

Please pack a snack: We will break midway for games and refreshments.

Parent participation:

10am - 12pm (3-5 years) Yes. Active parental participation is required 

1pm - 3pm (5-10 years) No. Parental participation is not allowed

​

Price: $65 per child. Parents create for free in the 3-5 years workshop.

Workshop Description: Coloured Pencil Realism is a drawing workshop that focuses on creating realistic imagery through coloured pencil shading, layering and blending. This skills development workshop is designed specifically for young artists looking to learn new skills in the art of drawing with coloured pencils and is packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists. During this workshop participants will choose from a selection of sweet and colourful reference images to then recreate as a detailed drawing using coloured pencil equipment and techniques. Participants can expect to learn:

  • How to create an interesting composition 

  • How to gently contour line draw a subject’s structure for shading preparation

  • How to shade, layer and blend with coloured pencils

  • How to apply basic colour theory to their artwork

  • How to use drawing tools and techniques such as blending stumps, erasers, masked areas and hatching

CARTOON AND ILLUSTRATION

 

Workshop Theme: Small Worlds - Can You Find? Artwork

 

Workshop Description: During this workshop participants will learn how to create an intricate narrative illustration inspired by Hidden Folks designer Adriaan De Jongh.

Participants will be led step-by-step to make a complex world filled with simplistic ink drawings of interesting spatial environments and hidden narratives.

Drawings will be created in four key stages on four separate layers, before being compiled into a single artwork on board.

FASHION DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

Workshop Theme: Shibori Tie-Dyed Tee + Woven Necklace

 

Workshop Description: Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique that produces beautiful patterns on fabric with the use of indigo dye. In this Fashion workshop, participants will familiarise themselves with the look of shibori before learning and practicing shibori dyeing and tying techniques. The end product will be a personalised shibori dyed tee. To complement their outfit participants will design and make a loom-woven necklace using custom polymer clay beads and basic weaving techniques.

 

Participants can expect to learn: 

  • Ancient and traditional fashion styles

  • Shibori tying techniques

  • Cold bath dyeing using natural indigo dye

  • Necklace design and construction

  • Polymer clay bead making

  • Basic loom weaving techniques

No prior experience is necessary.
